Read on to find out more:
♥️On a lovely sunny day, the iconic Clevedon Pier was the setting when Bernie the volunteer and events manager from VANS attended to present Gillian Barber with her win of £250. Gillian is a resident of Clevedon and has supported the them as a good cause of the North Somerset Community Lottery since the very beginning. Gillian told us she loves the pier and often goes for a walk there, she described it as a very peaceful place and somewhere where you can just lose yourself in your own thoughts.
She knows that continuous fundraising is essential for the pier and by purchasing tickets for the lottery she is doing her bit to help them with that.
One of the ways that the Pier raises funds is from proceeds from cruises on the Waverley Paddle Steamer, something that Gillian has previously done, one of the fenders is in need of replacement and the Pier are currently fundraising for this.
Nicole from the pier told us that they are very grateful for the support and the lottery was another way to raise the funds to help maintain the costs needed.
Gillian was supported by a number of friends and neighbors who told us they also love to come to visit the pier.
🌶️ Founded in 2020, Uncle Paul’s Chilli Charity is set in a unique, rural environment.
They welcome young people and adults who may have experienced social
disadvantages or barriers to learning and/or employment. Using their farmland
setting, beneficiaries can learn and develop new skills, as well as gain experience
and qualifications needed for successful and sustainable employment. Their key
focuses are on engagement, education, wellbeing and social prescribing.
The huge 40-acre farmland provides huge potential to provide even more than
they currently do, and their mission is to provide more outdoor learning areas and
opportunities whilst keeping sustainability at their core.
This charity has been part of the North Somerset Community Lottery for over two
years and their small group of supporters have helped them to achieve an
income of over £2.5k to date, which is a massive help in providing the resources
they need to continue with this amazing work.
VANS was delighted to learn recently that one of their supporters had won £2k!
So, Bernie Micklewright, Volunteering Development Manager for VANS, paid a
visit to the charity to see at first hand what they do and to present the winners
cheque to representatives of the charity – Delyse and Lucy, together with two of
the Charities beneficiaries. On a beautiful sunny day, she saw a group very busy
building a bug farm and clearly enjoying every minute of what they were doing.
She was also given tour of the large site and was so impressed to see all the
planting that takes place. This harvest is then used to produce delicious sauces,
jams, and chutneys to sell and they also grow for other companies. Bernie also
spotted a couple of Llamas on route!
Uncle Paul’s is a great example of how the lottery can help to give fundraising a
boost for local Good Causes.
♥️ We also have had 2x £25 winners recently with one winning donated their winnings straight back to the cause!
